I am grateful for "P" - Promises kept
Nothing so cool, so telling, so honorable, so important as...
Promises Kept
just a few thoughts on my gratitude for promises kept
be patient with me, remember it's sunday my thoughts are especially spiritual today!!!
Promises are like the full moon, if they are not kept at once they diminish day by day
--German Proverb
"These woods are lovely, dark and deepBut I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep."Robert Frost
I really love that "Honour thy Father and thy Mother" is the first commandment given with a PROMISE.
"Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD God giveth thee." Exodus 20:12; Ephesians 6:2
Then of course so many promises in the scriptures but promises given if we keep the commandments that are in them.
President Benson said it this way, and the promise is sure: "There is a power in the Book of Mormon which will begin to flow into your lives the moment you begin a serious study of the book. You will find greater power to resist temptation. You will find the power to stay on the strait and narrow path. The scriptures are called 'words of life' and nowhere is that more true than it is of the Book of Mormon. When you begin to hunger and thirst after those words, you will find life in greater and greater abundance. These promises--increased love and harmony in the home, greater respect between parent and child, increased spirituality and righteousness -- these are not idle promises, but exactly what the Prophet Joseph Smith meant when he said the Book of Mormon will help us draw nearer to God." The Teachings of Ezra Taft Benson, 54).
and don't forget
And all saints who remember to keep and do these sayings, walking in obedience to the commandments, shall receive health in their nabel marrow in their bones; and shall find wisdom and great treasures of knowledge, even hidden treasures; and shall run and not be weary and shall walk and not faint. And I the LORD give unto them a promise that the destroying angel shall pass by them, as the children of Israel, and not slay them. AMEN
